According to the Transfer of property act 1882 differences between sale and gift are -
- the basic difference is the consideration. a sale is the transfer of the ownership of anything with the consideration (price) whereas, gift is the transfer of ownership without consideration (price).
- the mode of transfer in case of a sale requires a deed whereas, the mode of transfer in case of gift is registration.
- however, only one party is liable in both the case of sale and gift.
