According to time the pain is divided into two types: acute and chronic.

Acute pain can be severe but lasts for a short time. (eg) heart attack.
Chronic pain can also be severe but not in all times and lasts for a long time (eg) chikun gunia.

acute diseases are the one which lasts/stays for less period of time.Ex headache,cold,etc..
whereas chronic diseases stay/remain life time.Ex dialysis, tb etc
