According to Vonnegut, what does being American mean? Do you agree with Vonnegut when he says the burning of books is un-American? Why or why not?

Explanation:

American writer Kurt Vonnegut Jr  argues that "being American means never having to say you are sorry ."

Being American, therefore means being without a country which is the sad state of being an American where the nation has failed to live to its ideals.  Despite, America being the wealthiest nation, the poor in America are encouraged to hate themselves since they mock themselves glorifying their betters.

I agree with Kurt Vonnegut on the point that burning of books is "un-American" noting the purpose of his letter "I am Very Real".  Since the burning of books is "un-American" is harmful to students. This is because it is vital to secure and protect students against some potentially destructive ideas.
