DURING BRITISH RULE IN THE SEMI ARID REGIONS OF NORTH INDIA, MOSTLY PUNJAB THEY ESTABLISHED MANY WATER CANALS SO THAT CROPS CAN BE GROWN IN THOSE REGIONS WHERE WATER IS LESS.

Rice and Wheat are the two major crops grown in punjab and haryana. These crops are not only high yielding but also economically profitale. So they cover large agricultural area in these 2 States
