Adsorption of a gas is a spontaneous process as ∆G is -ve value. ∆G=∆H-T∆S where ∆S is -ve it becomes∆G = ∆H + T∆S but here ∆H decreases and becomes -ve therefore. as ∆H is more negative than T∆S and ∆G becomes negative. thus spontaneous process is accompanied by decrease in Gibbs free energy that is ∆G= -ve. therefore it is spontaneous process
