1. Sponge has minute pores in it and the air is filled in it. Air is being compressible so moves out and therefore we can compress sponge.
2. Diffusion involves movement of air molecules from regions of higher concentrations to lower concentrations whereas osmosis involves movement of water molecules in the same manner. So osmosis is a special kind of diffusion
