Both of these need to be considered side by side, to get authentic facts on what had happened in the distant past. One alone might give a biased view of incidents, according to the narrator’s leanings.
When both travellers accounts and court chronicles are taken, compared and researched, it brings out similarities of events, which can then be authoritatively established as historical facts.
