variations are accumulated during reproduction mainly due to the following 3 factors
1.natural selection-some organisms are naturally selected to have variations so that they can survive in the environment
2.geographical isolation- due to long geographical isolation due to barrier or mountain same species become more and more different from each other leading to variations.
3-genetic drift-due to change in the number of chromosomes or dna different variations are accumulated though they do not provide any survival advantage.
hope it helps
