Compound X is sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and Y gas is CO2 gas . CO2 gas will turn lime water milky by the formation of CaCO3. The reaction is :
CH3COOH + NaHCO3 → CH3COONa + CO2 + H2O
Passing CO2 through calcium hydroxide
Ca(OH)2+CO2 →CaCO3+H2O
On passing excess carbondioxide
CaCO3+CO2+H2O →Ca(HCO3)2
Z →Ca(OH)2
