Acetic acid was added to a solid 'X ' kept in a test tube. A colorless, odourless gas 'Y ' was evolved. The gas is passed in a solution of zinc , which turned into milky. Identify X,Y and Z. Also write what will happen if Y is passed in Z in excess ?

Y is carbon dioxide ,Z is lime water and X is naoh

pratyushs776: Can u give the complete equation from the start till the end????Because after the reaction of acetic acid and caustic soda only methyl sodium and water is evolved. There is no gas evolved.......It should either be sodium carbonaye or sodium bicarbonate
