we have to convert acetone from methyl cyanide


follow the steps;


$\bold{CH_3CN + CH_3MgX \longrightarrow CH_3C(CH_3)NMgX}$

$\bold{CH_3C(CH_3)NMgX + H_2O \longrightarrow CH_3COCH_3 + NH_3 + Mg(X)OH}$

we know the preparation of ketone from nitriles reacting with grignard reagent in presence of DRYETHER we get Nitromagnesium compound after it dissolves it into water we get ketone
