  • Solubility of a molecule/ compound in water depends on H bonding.
  • That is inter or intramolecular bond bt H and O,F,N.
  • In both cases H of H2O and O of C bonded O undergo this but in Anetophenone the surrounding of 2 phenyl groups increases steric repulsion( repulsion bt 2bulky/ consisting of large no. of atoms molecules ). Due to,less presence of H2O molecules H bonding would be less so solubility less.
