Nagaland's lone Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio today said recognition of the Naga history as unique and different by the Central government is an achievement in itself.
"Recognition of our history is recognising our identity, culture and traditions," Rio said while addressing a mammoth gathering during the silver jubilee celebration of Angami Youth Organisation (AYO), an apex youth body in the state capital.
Rio, however, pointed out that the youth must know their history in order to build their future.
He said that the youth must be strong in their stand, as youth movements are known to lead to social reformations in other countries.
"The way we respect our elders in our society, we should also respect our youth and guide them to become good leaders," he said.
Maintaining that the Angami community being in the state capital are a blessed community among the Nagas, he attributed the blessings to the hard-work and dedication of the Angami forefathers and leaders who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the Nagas, including Naga National Council President Late A Z Phizo.
He urged the present generation youth to carry forward this legacy so that the people will trust and respect the leadership of Angami community.
"Do not forget or discard the lessons and the leadership of our forefathers," he said.
Further, Rio called upon the Naga youths to not to be one-track-minded by chasing only government jobs, which is at saturation point, but to look at the unlimited opportunities in terms of business, trade and industries in order to bring back the work culture in the Naga society.
