The Early Nationalists failed to attain their objectives, giving rise to another group of leaders known as Assertive or Extremist Nationalists. The most prominent leaders of the Assertive Nationalists were Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Lala Lajpat Rai and Bipin Chandra Pal, who are known collectively as the Lal-Bal-Pal trio.

1 .they could reach the educated and the urban people but not the masses. that's why their movement could not assume nationwide proportions.
2.they purchased methods of self-respect and self effort. their speeches and writings made the Indians fearless against the British they inspired revolutionaries such as Bhagat Singh, Chandra sekhar aaazad, etc.
