ISRO, Indian Space Research Organization, is India’s premier space research and exploration agency. It was formed in 1969. Since its venture with a simple satellite Arybhata in 1975, ISRO has come along way ahead. It has mastered the skill of launching not only advanced national satellites, but also earns a considerable foreign exchange by launching foreign satellites.
ISRO has earned worldwide name and fame by conducting extraterrestrial space missions successfully. The first such extra-terrestrial mission was Chandrayaan-1, First mission to the Moon. The other was the most acclaimed mission Mars Orbiter Mission known as Mangalayaan.
ISRO has contributed phenomenally to the technological development of the nation by launching many satellite programmes such as The INSAT series, The IRS series, Radar Imaging Satellites, etc. Apart from the above mentioned space progrmames, ISRO has launched South Asia Satellite, Gagan indigenous satellite navigation system, and IRNSS satellite navigation system. It created a world record in February 2017 by launching 104 satellites in a single rocket. By June 2017 ISRO had launched 278 satellites, of which 209 were foreign.
ISRO is working in coordination with other renowned space agencies such as NASA, and European Space Agency in the world in space research and exploration missions.
In conclusion it can be said ISRO has brought many laurels to the nation.
