This reaction is known as neutralization reaction because in this reaction acid and base neutralise each other to form a neutral compound.

in the above reaction NaOH is strong base and HCL is a strong acid and the both react with each other to form a salt that is NaCl( sodium chloride) which is a neutral compound and water which is also neutral.
