{\underlined{\sf{\blue{Acids-}}}} Acids are those chemical substances which turns the colour of blue litmus to red and have a sour taste.

In the presence of water, acid gives \sf {H}^{+} ion or \sf {H_3{O}^{+} ion.

The strength of acids depends on the number of ions \sf( {H}^{+} \: or {OH}^{-}).

If the large number of \sf{H}^{+} is produced by an acid, it means acid is strong.

If pH < 7, solution is acidic.

  • 1. Vinegar - Acetic acid.

  • 2. Orange and lemon - Citric acid.

  • 3. Curd - Lactic acid.

  • 4. Tamarind - Tartaric acid.

  • 5. Tomato - Oxalic acid.

An acid is a molecule or ion capable of either donating a proton, known as a Brønsted–Lowry acid, or, capable of forming a covalent bond with an electron pair, known as a Lewis acid. The first category of acids are the proton donors, or Brønsted–Lowry acids
