Acid Hydrochloric acid produced in the stomach in small amounts, is harmful or useful for us? If this acid is produced in excess in the stomach how will it affect us?​

Production of too much of acid in the stomach leads to the irritation of the stomach lining. This in turn can lead to formation of ulcers in the stomach. Excess acid can be neutralised by taking antacids which are basic in nature.
