____________ACIDS_____________

✔ Acids are the chemical substances that are sour in taste and are corrosive in nature.

✅Properties of acids —

♦ They are sour in taste.
♦ They conduct electricity.
♦ They are soluble in water.
♦ They turn blue litmus paper into red.
♦ They are corrosive in nature.

✅Acids are classified into two types —

♦ Organic Acids : These are naturally occuring acids. e.g. citric acid (found in citrus fruits).

♦ Inorganic Acids : These acids are man-made and are derived from artificial substances. e.g. sulphuric acid.

♢ Mineral Acids : These are the inorganic acids prepared from minerals.

✅USES of Acids —

♦ Acetic acid is used to make vinegar.
♦ Citric acid is used as a preservative.
♦ Sulphuric acid is used to manufacture fertilisers.
♦ Boric acid is added to eye-drops.
♦ Nitric acid is used to manufacture explosives.

______________BASE____________

✔ Bases are the chemical substances that are bitter in taste and soapy to touch.
e.g. Sodium hydoxide, calcium oxide,etc.

✅Properties of Bases —

♦ They are bitter in taste.
♦ They turn red litmus paper blue.
♦ Basic solutions have a soapy or slippery feel.
♦ Bases on reaction with acids gives salt and water.
♦ They are hidroxides of metals.

♢ Alkali : The bases which dissolves in water are called alkalis. e.g. Sodium hydoxide.

--All alkalis are bases, but only soluble bases are alkalis--

✅USES of Bases —

♦ Sodium hydoxide is used for distillation of petroleum.
♦ Potassium hydroxide is used for preparation of soft soap.
♦ Calcium hydroxide is used for manufacturing bleaching powder.
♦ Calcium oxide is used to nuetralize acidity of soil.
♦ Ammonia is used in cleaners.

_____________SALTS_____________

✔ Salts are the chemical substances that are formed as a result of nuetralisation of acid and base. e.g. Sodium chloride, etc.

✅Properties if Salts —

♦ Most salts are solids.
♦ Salts have high melting and boiling point.
♦ Most salts are soluble in water.
♦ Salt solutions in water are good conductors of electricity.

✅USES of Salts —

♦ Sodium Chloride is used as preservative in pickles, etc.
♦ Sodium Bicarbonate is used in baking cakes and breads.
♦ Potassium nitrate is used to manufacture gun powder, fireworks, etc.
♦ Potassium Aluminium Sulfate is used for purification of water.
♦ Silver Nitrate is used for developing films in photography.

Answer:

Hey dear ,

Here's your answer :)

Explanation:

Acid: An acid is a compound which when dissolved in water yields - hydronium ions {H₃O⁺} as the only positively charged ions.

Example : HCl + H₂O → H₃O⁺ + CL⁻.

Bases : A base is a compound which reacts with hydronium ions {H₃O⁺} of an acid - to give salt and water only.

Example : CuO + 2HCl → CuCl₂ + H₂O

Salts : A salt is a compound formed by partial or complete replacement

        - of a replaceable hydronium ion of an acid

        - metallic ion or an ammonium ion.

NaOH + H₂SO₄ → NaHSO₄ + H₂O →→→→→→→→→→ Partial replacement
