  • A super cyclone known by amphan cyclone occurred along the eastern coast of Bangladesh in india on 16 to 21 May. It was the third strongest cyclone that hit Bengal. It originated over a low-pressure area, 300 km east of Colombo and storm developed rapidly over the 12 hours.  
  • Having winds speeds of 240-260 km/hr. On 20 may the cyclone made a landfall in west bengal and shoretel weakened after that.  
  • The coastal areas like East of Midnapur, North and South Parganas, Kolkata and  Hooghly and Howrah were affected. It also created destruction in Bangladesh, about 128 fatalities were reported.
