Periscope is a device that is used to view things around or over an obstacle which prevents the direct sight of observation from the person's point of viewing.

It was invented in the year 1854 by a French chemist Edme Hippolyte Marié Davy, who was a renowned scientist of the 19th century. Later in 1902, it was Simon Lake who first used periscopes in submarines.
