Explanation:
Without the kind assistance of people from many areas of life, this initiative would not have been feasible.
Simon Subba, the former IPR officer, Captain Yongda, Ugen Chophel, Santosh Ahlay, Taranath Thapa, Phipmaya and her family, and Siddarth Yonzone all offered us their time and shared their knowledge and experiences with us in West Sikkim. The former DC of West Sikkim and retired IAS Santa Pradhan encouraged us and provided us with useful leads and introductions. In addition to telling her version of the tale of Srijonga, Deomaya Subba was a charming hostess.
The late Pradeep Yonzone, Angbir Rai, P.M. Rai, and my neighbours from Dumigaon presented documents from the late Agam Singh Tamang and Mr. Chamling, the previous Chief Minister of Sikkim, in the South district.
The folks that ran the homestays we stayed in in East and North Sikkim were kind and giving with their knowledge, discussion, and advice. Tashi Chophel, who was then the ADC at the district office in Mangan, contributed to making it easier to obtain permission to enter the Dzongu, Lachen, and Lachung restricted zones. In Lachen, Tchewang and his wonderful wife went above and beyond what hosts should do by introducing us to the Pipon and explaining how the Dzumsa works.
From the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Anna Balicki-Denjongpa, Karma Bhutia and his family, Raman Shrestha, Sonam Tashi Gyaltsen, K.C. Pradhan, Rajiva Shrestha, Mrs. Dil Kumari Bhandari (who directed me to the Mangar history), late C.D. Rai, and many more provided information in the East.
