Walking down a London side street in Google Street View
Everything looks how it’s supposed to.
Not many people around, but it’s 12pm on a Wednesday in November 2019, so
Everyone’s at work, or school, or whatever it is that means
Everything’s normal, or at least going on in all the usual ways
Down to the last parking inspector in the parking bays.
Even if people don’t give each other a second glance
And we’re all busy trying to advance our careers
Chances are, today, we’d talk with a stranger
How strange that now shaking hands is a danger.
Once it wasn’t safe to walk the streets late at night
Today, we have to stay at home in broad daylight; and
Hope this wave passes without pulling us under
Each day’s a new day in this world full of wonder - so,
Reach out and see what you cannot touch
and share your love with the ones you love.
