On heating, ferrous sulphate crystalslose water and anhydrous ferrous sulphate (FeSO4) is formed. So their colour changes from light green to white. On furtherheating, anhydrousferrous sulphate decomposes to formferric oxide (Fe2O3), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and sulphur trioxide (SO3).

Or

When ferrous sulphate crystals[FeSO4.7H2O] are heated, water of crystallization is lost. And then the anhydrous salt decomposes to form red brown ferric oxide [Iron(III)] , sulphur dioxide (SO2) and sulphur trioxide (SO3) gases. ... This process of heating ferrous sulphate crystals is known as Thermal Decomposition.
