Regulation of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. Only the first enzyme component, pyruvate dehydrogenase, is regulated. Both insulin and pyruvate stimulate production of the unphosphorylated, active form. The products of the reaction, NADH and acetyl-CoA, promote a lower percentage of the PDH in the active form.
