Know More !!

‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎In English Grammar, there are two types of voices. Namely, they are:

  • Active voice
  • Passive voice

↦Active voice: A sentence is said to be in active voice if it's subject performs the action to its object.

  • Structure – Subject + Verb + Object
  • Example – Rashi had informed to the teacher.

↦Passive voice: The sentences where its subject receives the action from the object are said to be in passive voice.

  • Structure – Object + Helping verb + Verb 3 + by + Subject
  • Example – The teacher had been informed by Rashi.

* To state whether a sentence is in active or passive voice, identify the SVO, i.e, subject, verb and object in the sentence. Then, look at the sentence and recognise which part of the sentence is doing the action. If the subject part does the action, then it is in active voice and if object does the action, it is in passive voice. And remember, passive voice has the preposition "by" before the object.
