Active mass of a substance is its molar concentration or molarity. Means, number of mole of substance per litre of solution is known as active mass of substance.

so, active mass of CaO = molarity of CaO

given weight = 5.6 g
molecular weight = 56g
so, number of mole of CaO = 5.6/56 = 0.1
Let 5.6 g of CaO in 1L of solution

then, active mass of CaO = 0.1/1 = 0.1 mol/L
