Active noise cancellation is nonselective, it attempts to remove all the sound equally, regardless of their desirability. Our invention enables the application of numerous sound filters to be applied in the region which is the difference between exterior ambient noise and silence. The application of these filters transforms the sound before it is output to the users ear. The whole process typically occurs in less than 40 milliseconds and happens continuously thereafter. The process may, in fact, be at various steps of completion for received audio while the system is functioning.
