Answer:

Definition:-

The major difference between active and passive voice is that in passive voice, we know who has done the action but in active voice it is not necessary that the doer must be known.

Rules of transformation:-

Active voice is on the left side and passive voice on the right side.

V₁ ↔ is/am/are + V₃

V₂ ↔ was/were + V₃

has/have ↔ has/have + been + V₃

is/am/are + V₁ + ing ↔ is/am/are + being + V₃

may + V₁ ↔ may + be + V₃

can + V₁ ↔ can + be + V₃

should + V₁ ↔ should + be + V₃

Remember:-

3rd form of verb is always there in passive voice, this helps us to identify whether a sentence is in passive or active.

For example:-

(1) He does his homework.

→ His homework is done by him.

Practice Questions:-

1. You failed to submit the application before the due date.

→ The application was failed to be submitted before the due date by you.

2. We should not have ordered separate phone line for each person in the office.

→ Separate phone line should not have been ordered by us for each person in the office.

Hope it helps
