In my opinion, reading books are is way better than watching movies based on them. On the other side, I feel that one should go for the original work (the book, film or TV show). If the question had mentioned a book based on a movie, I would have gone for the movie (but being the reader that I am, I would surely have read the book afterwards, as usually books based on movies or TV shows have correct details as they aren’t time bound like films).
