Activity-1: Let's read the following to see what happens to the villages which are located near rivers during the floods: 1. The embankments are breached and the flood water enters into villages. 2. Water level rises to the tops of the houses. 3. Villagers have to take shelter at relief camps. 4. Crops and livestock are swept away by flood waves. 5. Floods have large social consequences for communities and individuals. As most people are well aware, the immediate impacts of flooding include loss of human life, damage to property, destruction of crops, loss of livestock, and deterioration of health conditions owing to waterborne diseases.
