ACTIVITY – 1 SQUARE ROOT SPIRAL OBJECTIVE : To make a square root spiral upto √10 using Pythagoras theorem. PRE – REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE : Pythagoras theorem MATERIALS REQUIRED : geometry box PROCEDURE : 1. Draw a ray OX. Mark OA = 1 unit (3cm) on it. 2. At A, draw a perpendicular. 3. With A as centre and 1 unit radius, cut an arc on the perpendicular at B , so that AB = 1 unit. 4. Join OB. This OB = √2 5. Draw a perpendicular at B and with B as centre cut an arc at a distance of 1 unit on the perpendicular, so that BC = 1 unit. 6. Join OC. And this OC = √3 7. Repeat the process till √10 RESULT : A square root spiral is formed
