The definitions of these terms are as follows:

1. Atmosphere

  • The layer of air that surrounds the earth is called the atmosphere.

2. Energy

  • The capacity to do work is called energy.
  • The SI unit of energy is Joule (J) and the CGS unit is erg.

3. Gravity

  • The force with which a body is pulled towards the surface of the earth or a planet is known as gravity.
  • Its SI unit is Newton (N).

4. Magnetosphere

  • The region around the earth where the effect of the earth's magnetic field is experienced rather than other heavenly bodies' magnetic fields due to ionization is called the magnetosphere.

5. Water

  • Water is a very useful compound found in a liquid state without which no living organisms can survive.

6. Ozone

  • Ozone is a layer of gas found abundantly in the stratosphere region of the earth that absorbs 99% of ultraviolet radiations coming from the sun and protects the life on the earth.
  • It is a molecule formed by three atoms of oxygen with the molecular formula O₃.

7. Photosynthesis

  • The process by which all green plants prepare their own food by absorbing water and minerals from the root, sunlight from the sun, and carbon dioxide from the atmosphere in presence of green pigment chlorophyll is known as photosynthesis.

8. Moon

  • The only natural satellite revolving around the earth is called the moon.
  • It takes 24 hrs to complete one rotation and 28 days to complete one revolution around the earth.

9. Goldilocks

  • Goldilocks is a little girl with beautiful golden hair and one of the main characters of the story 'Goldilocks and the three bears'.
