Answers
Given :
Out of Fifty students, 34 joined the Journalism Class and
25 joined the Robotics Club.
16 students joined both clubs
To Find :
a) how many students are in neither club?
b) How many are in either club
Solution:
n(J) = 34
n(R) = 25
n ( R ∩ J) = 16
in neither club
Total = n(J) + n(R) - n ( R ∩ J) + n( in neither club)
=> 50 = 34 + 25 - 16 + n( in neither club)
=> n( in neither club) = 7
in either club = 50 - 7 = 43
all the students play either basketball or badminton or both.
the number of students who play basketball only = basketball - both
= 200 - 80
= 120
badminton only = 150 - 80 = 70
Total number of students = 120 + 70 + 80
= 270
