The first conditions should meet first. The non magnetic material should have the ability to conduct magnetism. These materials are also called ferromagnetic. These materials have the ability to be magnets when inside the magnetic field of a magnet. Metallic materials mostly have this ability.

              Then follow by the second condition which is the magnet should be in close proximity with the non magnetic material. This for the non magnetic material to be within the range of the magnetic field of the magnets.
