In order to understand how the major processes of heat transfer raise the temperature of the Earth, we need to understand how the three major heat transfer processes effect the Earth
How does conduction affect the Earth?
- As a result of conduction, the temperature of the rocks increases. This rise in temperature causes the heat energy to be released in the atmosphere hence warming the Earth.
How does convection affect the Earth?
- As a result of convection, heat energy is transferred in fluids. When the heat energy will be transferred in the sea or ocean water as a result of convection, the temperature of the Earth will increase.
How does radiation affect the Earth?
- As a result of radiation, the sun's energy hits the Earth and raises its temperature.
Thus, we can conclude that the three major processes of heat transfer increase the temperature of the Earth.
