Gooseberries are small round berries commonly found in Europe. The scientific name is Ribes uva-crispa. Though they are small they are filled with abundant nutritious benefits.`

Benefits of eating gooseberries

1. Gooseberries are low in calories. So if you eat 100 grams you will get around 44 calories. Further, they are free from fat and cholesterol. So they can be used in weight reduction.

2. The flavones and anthocyanins present in them help fighting cancer and they have anti-oxidants which are helpful in fighting cancer.

3. They are a good source of essential nutrients including vitamin C, vitamin A, manganese and dietary fiber.

4. If you consume 1-cup of fresh, raw gooseberries they provide 42 milligrams of vitamin C, 0.2 milligrams of manganese, 6 grams of dietary fiber and 435 International Units of vitamin A.
