ACTIVITY 6
Aim: Identify yarns made from different fibres by breaking test.
Collect samples of fabrics made from different fibres. Take out yarns from each of these
and keep each one separately. One by one, hold each yarn in both the hands and break
it. You will observe that in case of cotton the yarn breaks easily, has brush like tips and
slightly curled fibres.
Find out similar characteristics of yarn in following fibres and record your observation
a. Acrylic b. Jute
c. Wool
d. Silk
e. Any synthetic fibre
