Step-by-step explanation:

numerator x

denominator y

a/q

11x-6y=-18 i

x-y=-8 multiply with 6

we obtain,

6x-6y=-48 ii

from I and 2 eq we get, by elimination

11x-6y=-18

6x-6y=-48

5x=30

x=6

substitute in eq 2

6(6) -6y=-48

36+48=6y

84=6y

y=14

hence the fraction is

6/14=3/7
