(ii) $0.5$ × $0.5 =$ $\frac{0.5}{10}$ × $\frac{0.5}{10}$ $= \frac{25}{100}$ $= \frac{1}{4}.$

Steps to represent these decimal products on a grid paper:

• Take a 10 × 10 grid paper.
• Shade 7 columns with green colour to represent 0.7 and shade 3 rows with red colour to represent 0.3. (Similarly, shade 5 columns with blue colour and 5 rows with orange to represent 0.5 in the case of second set of given decimals.)
• Then count the number of grids were both these colours had overlapped. Here it is 21.
• Therefore, the product of the decimals 0.7 and 0.3 is $\frac{21}{100}.$
