L CONCEPT NOTES
Key ideas or main ideas are the most important idea in a paragraph. It is the central
point or key concept an author is trying to get across the reader. Supporting Details make
up the body of the paragraph. They provide information about the main topic and are closely
related to it, this includes: examples, steps, definitions, comparisons, facts, reasons,
descriptions and contrast that expands or support the topic sentence.

Book Owners
There are three kinds of book owners. The first has all the standard sets and best sellers-
unread, untouched. This person owns printed paper bound in books. The second has a great
many books- a few of them read through, most of them dipped into, but all of them as clean
and shiny as the day they were bought. This person owns books which hel she respects and
is afraid to use. The third has a few books or many- every one of them dog-eared and
dilapidated, marked and scribbled in form back to back. This person truly owns books and
