take a piece of chalk, a cube of ice, and an iron nail,no beat it with a hammer..we will find that it is very easy to break the piece of chalk into smaller pieces,it requires more force to break a cube of ice whearas an iron nail will not break at all even with a large force..this shows that force of attraction between the particles of ice is a little strong whereas the force of attraction between the particles of an iron nail is very strong ... conclusion , the fforce of attraction is maximum between the particles of solids and minimum in the particles of gases matter ...
