It was a cold winter afternoon and little Billy Miller had just gotten out of school. He briskly walked to his cozy home down the street. As soon as he opened the door, he saw his older sister, Suzy.
"Hi, Billy", she said warmly, "Do you want to walk Butter with me?"
"Sorry, sis, but I just want to get to my room and put on my magic socks!"
Suzy smiled and shook her head. "What a silly little boy", she thought. At that moment, Billy's dog, Butter, came crashing into the room, wagging her tail a mile a minute! She almost knocked Billy down as she excitedly said hello in her happy puppy way. As he hugged his dog, he noticed her red velcro jacket. He then went to get her one of those bone shaped biscuit treats and laughed as she danced around expectantly. "Who's a good girl?" asked Billy. He had no idea why people said that, but he knew that was what you said to dogs, so he did it anyway. Once Butter calmed down, he gave her the treat. Suzy then put a leash on Butter and they made their way out.Billy hurried to his room, his mind swimming with all the adventures he could go on thanks to his very special socks. Whether it be fighting pirates, saving a princess, or defeating aliens, Billy knew once he slipped on those magic blue stripped socks, he was unstoppable! All he had to do was put on his magic socks and he would be on a journey far far away, where he was the hero, and- one sock was missing.
