Explanation:

Combustion can't take place without air(O2),so it is prime need of combustion

AIM :- To show that air is necessary for combustion.

MATERIAL REQUIRED :- A candle, matchstick, mirror glass.

PROCEDURE :-

  1. Take a candle and light it up with a matchstick on normal room temperature.
  2. After sometime, cover the lightning candle with a mirror glass.
  3. You will notice that the candle lights off/blows off.

OBSERVATION :- As soon as the glass covers the burning candle, it blows off.

RESULT :- Air consists of oxygen which is necessary to carry out any process whether it be combustion itself. As soon as a glass covers the candle, it blows off because air(oxygen) is no more available for combustion there and hence it blows off. This shows that air is necessary for combustion.
