Answer:
Explanation:
Activity:
Aim: To show that Friction depends on Nature of Surface.
Theory: As nature of surface changes, Friction varies accordingly.
Materials: A box(Pencil Box sort of thing), a Cloth piece, A rectangular glass(same as cardboard size), a supporting cardboard
Procedure:
- First neatly spread the cloth over the cardboard and make it inclined using a tall thing.
- Now when all arrangements are done , swiftly allow the box to slide on the settings.
- Now similarly take the glass and place it inclined on the same with no inclined angle change
- Now slide the box on the glass.
- Remember not to give any extra effort to any of cloth or glass.
Observations:
- The box on the glass swiftly goes down
- The cloth piece one takes time
- This happened because cloth piece exerted more friction as compared to glass which is sleek and has less friction production capability.
Precautions:
- Hold the glass piece with utmost care
- The activity must be done under adult's supervision.
- Do not exert pressure on cloth piece if the box does not move which shows that cloth piece produces more friction.
