Activity to show that matter occupies space :-
1. Take 2-3 crystals of potassium permaganate and dissolve them in 100 ml of water.
2. Take out approximately 10ml of this solution and put into 90ml of clean water.
3. Take out 10ml of this solution and put it into another 90ml of water keep diluting the solution like this 5 to 8 times.4. This experiment shows that just a few crystals of potassium permaganate can colour a large volume of water. ( about 100l)

Anything which has mass and occupies space is called matter.
Example:- Chair,Air , table , car etc.

1. I take a balloon and mark it's shape,size and volume.
2. I filled the balloon with air and again I mark the shape, size and volume.
3. On observing I find that on filling the balloon with air has changed the overall shape, size and volume.
This show that matter occupies space.
