Take 1 ml of starch solution in two test tubes (A & B).
Add 1 ml saliva to test tube A and leave both test tubes undisturbed for 20-30 min
Now add a few drops of dilute iodine solution to the test tubes.
You will notice that there will be a colour change in test tube B.
In test tube A the enzymes in saliva convert the starch into sugar. Since iodine solution turns blue-black in the presence of starch there will be no change of colour in test tube A but the color will be blue black in test tube B as we have not added saliva in it.
