This term we will be looking at the works of William Shakespeare: poet, actor and dramatist. He is often seen as the best writer in the English language. He lived in the late 16th and early 17th century, but his plays are still widely performed today. There have been numerous adaptations of his work including ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ on CBeebies.

Shakespeare was born in 1564. We don't know his exact birth date, but his birthday is usually celebrated as the 23rd of April. He was born in Stratford Upon Avon in England, where thousands of tourists still visit every year to see his birthplace. They also visit to see performances of his plays by the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company).
