Given :- AD is median of triangle ABC. if area of ABD is equal to x cm square and area of ABC is equal to y cm square then find the relation between x and y ?

Solution :-

from image :-

  • AD = Median .
  • ∆ABC area = y .
  • ∆ABD area = x .

we know that,

  • The median of a triangle divides the triangle into two triangles with equal areas.

Therefore,

→ ∆ABD area = ∆ADC area = x .

Hence,

→ ∆ABC area = ∆ABD area + ∆ADC area

→ y = x + x

→ y = 2x . (Ans.)

the relation between x and y is y = 2x.
