Given Price = Base Price + Sales Tax
Suppose base price is £X.
10 % of X = (10 / 100)X = 0.1 X
So now Given Price = £275 = X + 0.1X = 1.1X
⇒ X = 275 / 1.1 = 250
∴ Base price = £250
So, Sales tax = Given price - Base price = 275 - 250
∴ Sales Tax = £50
